Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
How do I know if I’m eligible to receive a vehicle and how do I apply?
You must meet the outlined criteria as noted in the application and apply through a qualified Sponsor. A qualified Sponsor is any non-profit/veteran related organization or individual who has first-hand knowledge of the applicant’s need and knows the applicant in a professional capacity. Examples of Sponsors include (but are not limited to), non-profit organizations, government support organizations and charitable, religious, or health associated entities.
How do I apply?
Qualified Sponsors need to request applications on behalf of those interested in the program. Applications can be requested during the annual application period by sending an email to KeysToProgress@progressive.com.
Are Progressive employees or employees of program affiliates eligible for this program?
Current regular (full-time and part-time) employees, temps, or contractors are ineligible for the program. In addition, household and immediate family members (e.g., spouse, dependent child, regardless of where they reside) of Progressive employees and employees of Progressive Keys to Progress program affiliates are also ineligible. Previous recipients of a vehicle through the Keys to Progress veteran vehicle giveaway program in any capacity are also ineligible.
When will I know if I’ve been selected?
All program recipients who are selected to receive a vehicle will be notified by September in each program year. Potential recipients will be contacted by a Progressive representative via the phone number and/or email address included in the application.
Where and when do events take place?
Vehicle giveaways primarily take place at various Progressive offices and Enterprise Rent-A-Car locations across the United States. The Keys to Progress veteran vehicle giveaway program distributes vehicles once a year, typically in November.
How many cars do you give away annually?
We plan to gift 100 cars a year.
Why do you focus on veterans for vehicle donations?
Veterans are special people. They served our country, so we're doing what we can to pay them back for their service.
I’m a veteran in need of a vehicle. Are there other programs out there like this?
One of the organizations we team up with for the Keys to Progress program is 1-800-Charity Cars. This organization works with veterans in need all year long. You can learn more at 1-800-Charity Cars or by giving them a call at 1-800-CHARITY (1-800-242-7489).
