Kitten and cat insurance plans

You'll choose from two cat insurance plan types: accident-only or accident and illness. If you select the BestBenefit plan, you can add either the EssentialWellness or BestWellness plan to your policy for routine care coverage.

Accidental injury

Accident Only plan for cats

As the most affordable option, the Accident Only plan can save you some scratch. This type of cat insurance can cover bills associated with injuries such as bites, wounds, broken bones, and swallowed objects. Keep in mind that this plan won't cover illness.

Pricing: $6 per month*

Accident and illness

BestBenefit plan for cats

Building on everything in the Accident Only plan, a BestBenefit plan can also cover any illness your cat suffers except pre-existing conditions. This more comprehensive coverage can reimburse you for diagnostic exams, emergency care, and specialist visits, while allowing you to choose a deductible that feels right for your budget. Your reimbursement percentage will then be set accordingly, at 70%, 80%, or 90% of your cat's covered bills once you've met your annual deductible.

Pricing: Average of $26 per month**

Routine care

EssentialWellness and BestWellness plans for cats

When you add a wellness plan to your BestBenefit plan, you gain more control over your cat's expected care over the course of their life. From their first vaccinations as a kitten to annual check-ups, vaccines, and even FeLV screenings as an adult, your wellness plan will help you manage and cover their changing needs — with no deductible. We offer two levels of wellness coverage so you can find the right plan for your kitten or older cat's expected health costs throughout the year.

What cat health insurance doesn't cover

Pre-existing health conditions aren't covered in cat and kitten insurance plans. If your feline has been diagnosed with a specific health issue prior to your cat insurance going into effect, treatment and care won't be covered. You can still secure coverage for your cat; just keep in mind that any treatment related to the pre-existing condition won't be covered.

Cat insurance plans that only cover accidents or accidents and illnesses don't include coverage for elective procedures or preventative care. However, the EssentialWellness and BestWellness add-on plans can cover specific preventative and elective procedures.

Other things not covered by cat insurance include non-veterinary expenses, including those related to your cat's food and diet, grooming, boarding, and holistic treatments. Learn more about what cat insurance from Pets Best covers and doesn't cover.

Why choose Progressive Cat Insurance by Pets Best?

Our flexible, competitively priced plans allow you greater control over your pet's health care and veterinary expenses. Here are just a few reasons Pets Best is recommended by vets across the country:

  • One annual deductible: There's no need to pay a deductible every time you file a claim. For your convenience, you'll only pay your deductible once a year.
  • Customized coverage: Choose a deductible that works for your budget — anywhere from $50 up to $1,000. You can also set your reimbursement at 70%, 80%, or 90% of eligible vet bills up to your annual limit once you've met your deductible.
  • No upper age limits: Whether your cat is a kitten or has many years under its collar, you can get them on an accident or illness plan (from 7 weeks old on) — and keep that same level of coverage throughout their life.
  • Easy claims processing: The claims process is simple, making them easy to submit quickly.
  • Flexible payment plans: Pay your premiums monthly, quarterly, or annually. The choice is yours.

Understanding cat insurance costs

The annual cost of insuring a cat through Progressive ranges from $72* for an accident-only plan to $302** for an accident and illness plan. Besides the type and amount of coverage you select, the estimated cost of cat insurance can also depend on your kitty's breed, age, and location.
